Operation Mardon was a series of coordinated Rhodesian cross-border raids into Mozambique between October and December 1976, aimed at disrupting the Zimbabwe African National Liberation Army (ZANLA). These raids involved simultaneous attacks on ZANLA camps, destruction of logistical support, and the mining of supply and infiltration routes, notably the destruction of the Mudzi Camp. The operation was part of the Rhodesian Bush War and marked the first combat deployment of the Selous Scouts’ homemade APC, the “PIG,”.
